GENE LARKIN EI3K

EUGENE Larkin, EI3K, known to all as Gene, departed this life on Sunday, July 19 2002, after a long illness.
My memories of Gene go back to the 50s and in all those years I could never find a moment that I could fault Gene for his lack of kindness, thoughtfulness and patience. Truly he was a pleasure to know and I am proud to say I knew him. I know many others will say the same.
Gene was a founder member of the Dundalk Amateur Radio Society in the 60's along with the late Bill Scully EI2I and the late Frank Meegan EI. Both Frank and Gene served the DARS as Honorary Life Presidents. Gene was the stabilizing nucleus of the Society over the years. Any problems that arose were always resolved in his quiet unassuming way.
Apart from his dedication and love for his wife and family, Gene had another interest other than Amateur Radio and that was Horses. He had a genuine love and was a wealth of knowledge on those beautiful animals. Having talked about buying or having a problem with a horse you came away totally reassured with his unassuming profound confidence.
On behalf of the Dundalk Amateur Radio Society, all who knew him and myself, thank you Gene for being you. May you rest in peace and hopefully there will be plenty of friends and good DX for you in the future.
